The National Human Resources Business Partners Lead will serve as a strategic HR Business Partner to businesses across Cox Automotive Canada, provide proactive counsel to business leaders, provide leadership & guidance to HR Business Partners and develop & implement innovative HR strategies that contribute to achieving business objectives, enhanced employee experiences’ and to strengthen the high performing workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for building and leading a team of HR Business Partners, developing their skills and capabilities to progress working relationships with line managers and client groups to provide comprehensive and proactive HR solutions, input and advice.
  • Act as a ‘gatekeeper’ between the business and HR operational services to ensure issues are being communicated and managed appropriately and the strong partnership of Human Resources is maintained and continuously improved.
  • Support the delivery and implementation of the organization’s vision for the future, acting as a conduit between the Human Resources and the business and providing HR related expertise and support as required on employee relations, enhancing engagement and legislation.
  • Provide ongoing oversight of programme delivery with HRBP Team, to ensure delivery against objectives and timescales are met, in accordance to HR programs and plans.
  • Work closely with the Director HR, to devise business plans to implement the organizations People Strategy initiatives and programs aligned to the values across the business and beyond, with a focus on building and strengthening a culture of high performance.
  • Take the lead on designing and implementing a HR Business Partner model
  • Work with and develop business partners to create effective and efficient organizational structures, which support business models and aspirations
  • Provide consultative commentary on HR management information reports and metrics
  • A business leader that facilitates the development and implementation of better people management and development practices, and shares responsibility for goals and deliverables to the broader organization.
  • Serves as an expert consultant to management on human resources related issues while acting as an employee champion and change agent.
  • Additionally, responsible in providing functional strategic HR Business Partner support to several businesses as the key HRBP


Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience / Education

  • University degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related degree.
  • Certified HR Designation, such as CHRP or CHRL is an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressive senior HR roles required, with experience as a strategic HR Business Partner and leadership with teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of Business Partner Model and best practice methodologies having worked in an environment where HR has transitioned to a Business Partner approach of working.
  • Experience working as a business partner engaging with and influencing leaders.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills.
  • Leadership and change management experience
  • Extensive experience of managing and developing staff during a time of transition and growth.
  • Thorough understanding of providing both strategic and operational advice, and support at a senior level.
  • Evidence of proven tools and techniques to analyze and understand the current organizational culture and the cultural shifts required.
