The Finance Accounting Manager provides leadership and direction for the financial processes, activities and internal controls of the Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Credit and Collections and other Shared Services functions. This position reports to the Market Controller and is located in the Milton/Mississauga area.  The Finance Accounting Manager is the trusted advisor to the Finance Leadership team and other Managers and will act as the liaison with the US and offshore Accounts Payable processing teams. The Finance Accounting Manager is responsible for meeting Service Level Agreements and ensuring the accuracy of financial information. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work under tight deadlines, have a high level of accounting expertise while managing a fast paced, evolving business environment. The position demands frequent interactions with all levels of the organization.

 

Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities

 

  • Independently manage the Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions in a high-volume workflow Oracle system, including imaging and image verification processes

  • Manage the Credit and Collections processes including credit decisions, bad debt policy and reserves and all collection activities

  • Effectively recruit, train and lead the team and provide regular communication and feedback. Focus on developing and training team members and ensuring high levels of engagement

  • Develop and implement goals and priorities for the team, including work scheduling, prioritizing and meeting month end deadlines

  • Regularly prepare and present information to the Finance Leadership Team on Service Levels, productivity and process improvement

  • Improve, document and implement efficient and effective Policies and Procedures documentation and training materials

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting systems and assist internal and external auditors in performing reviews and audits of accounting records

  • Review and control system access to ensure appropriate internal controls

  • Be knowledgeable on recovery and reducing exposure for GST, QST and PST

  • Work on year end income tax audit schedules

  • Work with cash flow projections and cash management

  • Work on special projects and prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interaction skills required
  • Effective and competent management, accounting, and organizational skills required
  • Excellent computer and software knowledge essential, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.   Oracle, Hyperion, SAP, Blackline and AS400 knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of Finance, Accounting, Budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Experience in a multiple business unit environment preferred
  • Experience in the automotive industry desirable
  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates (French/English)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA certification or MBA required
  • 7-10 years of Accounting/Finance experience in positions with increasing responsibilities
  • Previous Accounts Payable Management or Controller experience preferred
