Description:

 

The Cox Automotive Network & AWS Production Engineering team is an innovative team devoted to providing automated services for Cox Automotive to measure, evaluate and plan for visible, reliable application delivery.

 

As a member of the IT Operations team, you will engage with development teams to help create automated pipelines and solutions required for continuous delivery. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about DevOps, AWS and Networks!

 

The successful candidate will drive the planning, implementation and testing of all new and existing AWS and networking technologies throughout the firm. This person likely started a career on the network side and migrated to AWS. This position will work across multiple teams and engineers across the firm to drive synergy, consistency and stabilization for corporate and Production infrastructures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sharing a 24×7 on-call support with other team members
  • Engage with Software Engineering in the design, implementation and maintenance of the build/release infrastructure
  • Improve the predictability and reliability of software releases with the implementation of automated build, test and deployment tools and processes.
  • Partner with Software Engineering and Application Specialists to improve stability with the design, development and implementation of application monitors and alerts.
  • Participate with Software Engineering and Architect Teams to ensure Release Engineering best practices are implemented
  • Work with Software and Production Engineering in the coordination of software releases
  • Produce update and/or endorse Site Reliability Engineering standards, guidelines and procedures
  • Provide disciplined and inspired leadership with experience in building and running high performance Network, Telecom and AWS infrastructure,
  • Review / recommend Networking purchases and throughout the firm to drive standardization
  • Technical leader who can execute on the Network strategy that will ensure the stability, security and integrity of the firms AWS, data and voice infrastructure
  • Understand and recommend emerging new solutions and technologies especially as it pertains to virtualizing the network and the software defined data center
  • Support Continuous Availability, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Planning as they relate to Network, Telecommunications, AWS infrastructure and capabilities
  • Maintain operational guidelines, diagrams and documentation for all network and security devices and infrastructures. Attention to detail on all documents is important.
  • Monitor expiration dates of SSL Certificates. Install new SSL certificates.
  • Capacity planning and monitoring of all network infrastructures, devices and data circuits to keep ahead of future growth. Report capacity needs and concerns to the network and security manager. Work to ensure maximum network uptime.
  • Troubleshoot all network and AWS outages or problems. Escalate necessary issues to the appropriate 3rd party vendor support team. Follow through to bring all network outages and problems to conclusion in a quick and efficient manner. Update the network and security manager on the status of all outages and issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, or in place of degree, 5-7 years’ experience as a DevOps, SRE, Network Support
  • Corporate AWS DEVops support experience
  • Large network support experience (Cabling, Switching, Routing, WAN, LAN, WiFi, FW, Security)
  • Familiarity with one or more general purpose programing languages but not limited to: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl.
  • Windows and Linux system (80/20) engineering expertise
  • Experience with Application Server platforms (.Net, JBoss, EAP, EWS, Wildfly)
